Dr Katrin graduated from the University of Munich, Germany in 1999 after which she spent 7 years working in a variety of practices, including specialist and referral centers in the UK in order to get broad and extensive experience in all areas of small animal medicine and surgery.
During this time, Dr Katrin earnt the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons “Certificate in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Pain Relief” and completed a doctorate thesis in animal behavior before moving to the UAE in 2006.
Dr Katrin opened the German Veterinary Clinic- the first dedicated, high standard Small Animal Clinic in Khalifa City A, Abu Dhabi – in 2008. Her empathetic and caring approach as well as her extensive knowledge and experience led the clinic to very quickly grow to a team of 15 staff and the practice continues to expand and flourish to this day.
Dr Katrin has a large interest in cat medicine and the GVC is the the Middle East’s first ISFM Gold Standard Cat Friendly Clinic. To further her knowledge and to be able to care for the UAE’s cats even better, Dr Katrin is currently undertaking a specialist qualification in Feline Medicine.
As well as the medical side of her job, Dr Katrin is also extremely interested in entrepreneurship and business development and is always keen to hear feedback on how she can improve her clinic even more. Client satisfaction and happiness are her top priority and the whole GVC Team go out of their way to ensure the best service and care are given to all of their clients.
Dr Katrin has her own family of 4-legged friends! She has 2 naughty rescue cats – Vicki and The Squidge -a beautiful and patient rescue dog – Polly, a tortoise called Minty and a very cheeky event horse – Sky.
